A Memoir on the History of Japanese-American War Teaches Its Readers to Value Peace

Tennessee, USA – WEBWIRE

In a world with nations seeking to expand their boundaries by force to perhaps conquer the world, Clarence “Kip” Vold objectively examines the world in Asia in his new chronicle, entitled “Decision Affirmed,” the Japanese expansion and policies that led to the war between Japan and the United States, World War II in the Pacific Ocean.

The Japanese military had moved into Southeast Asia, Indonesia and the Philippine’s conquering nations. The United States Navy was an obstacle that had to be stopped and on a Sunday morning, December 7th Pearl Harbor and American installations in Hawaii were attacked to allow the Japanese military to cripple the United States Navy while Japan developed an impenetrable defense, forcing the United States to sue for peace and Japan’s expanded empire to continue.

The United States did not play its intended role but answered with total war to defeat Japan. Defense, expanding capability based on the United States economy to an offense that would lead to unconditional surrender by the Japanese Empire. The Japanese military, would fight to the death and would rather die than surrender, was slowly driven back until only the home islands remained. With the atomic weapons the United States had a weapon which promised a quicker end to the war and fewer casualties. President Truman’s said his primary reason for ordering that use was “saving American lives!” His decision to drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was and is controversial and questioned.

What other options were available? What were the consequences of other options? What kind of world followed the defeat of Japan?
