Tyler Oberheu’s book on life with Tourette’s will be displayed at the 2020 London Book Fair New Title Showcase

The book “Twist and Shout: An Awkward Life with Tourette’s” (Green Ivy; 2015) by Tyler Oberheu has been making the rounds at different book fairs in the U.S. and around the world. This time, it will be exhibited at the 2020 London Book Fair (LBF) New Title Showcase on March 10-12, 2020 at Olympia London, West Kensington, London, England.
 
The LBF is a book publishing trade fair that attracts over 25,000 attendees from more than 135 countries, as well as 1,000+ exhibitors from 60 countries around the world. One of the most anticipated sectors at the LBF is the New Title Showcase, the #1 place to introduce new titles to attendees. The New Title Showcase provides authors and publishers with a venue on the show floor where their titles, with available rights, can be found by publishers, agents, distributors, and readers.
 
Oberheu’s book “Twist and Shout: An Awkward Life with Tourette’s” will be exhibited by ReadersMagnet at the 2020 London Book Fair New Title Showcase.
 
The book is a collection of essays that describe the author’s experiences with Tourette’s through his treatments, diagnoses, medications, and philosophy. He also interviewed three people who also had Tourette’s for his book, which aim is to educate readers with the many variances of the neurological disorder that is characterized by repetitive movements or unwanted sounds (tics) that can’t be easily controlled.
 
“I believe that if everyone can understand what a person’s individual experience is, we would all be in a better place,” said Oberheu. “Everyone has a different experience and a different path in this weird, twisted reality that we live in.”
 
Writing “Twist and Shout: An Awkward Life with Tourette’s” does more than just offer Oberheu a reprieve from Tourette’s; publishing it provides him with a platform to spread awareness and give his fellows a voice. And while the author explains the reality of living with the disorder, he’s helping people gain self-advocacy skills.
