Air France strengthens its commitment to the inclusion of people with disabilities


On 13 November 2019, Air France CEO Anne Rigail signed the Manifesto for the inclusion of people with disabilities in the working environment, in the presence of Sophie Cluzel, Secretary of State in charge of People with Disabilities in the Philippe Government.

Through this Manifesto, which consists of 10 concrete measures, Air France is reaffirming its strong commitment to the employment and job security of workers with disabilities, at the heart of its human resources policy.

Active and exemplary support

In 2018, the company signed its 10th three-year agreement with the unions on the employment and job security of people with disabilities, with the main objective of achieving a sustainable level of employment for people with disabilities above the legal rate of 6%. This agreement also allocates 3.4 million euros to actions to promote the employment of staff with disabilities.

As part of this agreement, Air France is committed on a daily basis to:

  • hiring people with disabilities in all positions, at all levels and all types of contracts (fixed-term contracts, permanent contracts and work-study contracts)
  • integrating, supporting and ensuring job security for staff with disabilities. Every year, more than 200 actions to ensure job security are implemented within the company (adapting workstations, working conditions, financial assistance, etc.)
  • using the protected and adapted sector. In 2018, over 21 million euros have been invested in subcontracting, supply and service contracts.
  • raising awareness among its managers and employees. Awareness-raising activities take place throughout the year. In 2019, Air France took part in the Duo Day event launched by the Secretary of State in charge of People with Disabilities. This event enabled some twenty people with disabilities to work together in pairs with Air France employees who volunteered to overcome prejudice and promote inclusion within the company.

In addition, last October, at IFM Top Resa, the company received the Marco Polo award for improving the travel experience of Air France customers with disabilities. This award reflects the daily efforts of Air France’s Saphir assistance service and all the staff that contribute to the well-being of passengers with disabilities during their trip.
