FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc., a leading provider of diagnostic imaging and medical informatics solutions, and part of the Fujifilm Healthcare portfolio, hosted a Pink Table Brunch on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the FUJIFILM Wonder Photo Shop to celebrate and honor breast cancer survivors, patients and their loved ones.

“As part of Fujifilm’s ‘Aspire to be Fearless’ nationwide mammography educational mobile coach tour, we are hosting various patient and clinician events to raise awareness about the importance of finding breast cancer early,” said Rick Banner, Senior Director, Marketing, FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. “At Fujifilm, we are committed to raising awareness through educational programs and are dedicated to promoting the early detection of breast cancer through advances in digital mammography.”

The Pink Table Brunch in New York was hosted with the goal of supporting the total wellbeing of survivors, patients and their loved ones -- physically and emotionally. Special activities included professional headshots taken by Fujifilm photographers and networking opportunities.

The brunch also hosted keynote speaker Joseph J. Cappello, co-founder of Are You Dense, Inc, and Are You Dense Advocacy, Inc. Joe was elected to take on the leadership role as Executive Director of Are You Dense, Inc. and Are You Dense Advocacy, Inc. in January of 2019 after his wife, Nancy Capello’s passing from treatment related bone marrow cancer (MDS). His passion is to continue Nancy’s legacy by pursuing the goal that they set in 2004; that not one woman would die from a late stage breast cancer due to dense breast tissue. In 2009, Joe and Nancy championed the first in the nation breast density inform law in the State of Connecticut. In February 2019, their tireless efforts resulted in national legislation of breast density disclosure.

“We are pleased of the great strides that have been made in the early detection and treatment of breast cancer -- and many women diagnosed with breast cancer are living long, healthy lives,” said Susan Crennan, Product Marketing Manager, Women’s Health, FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. “Progress in treatment and early detection has led to improved survival. Women whose breast cancer is detected at an early stage have on average a 90% survival rate in the first five years*.”

The Pink Table Brunch is part of a series of educational events hosted by Fujifilm that will take place throughout the year in select markets around the country.
