Apply for 2020 RTDNF scholarships and fellowships

Since the first RTDNF scholarship was presented in 1970, the foundation has awarded nearly 600 student and early career journalists more than $1,000,000 in scholarships and fellowships.

RTDNF is excited to announce the opening of the application period for the 50th class of foundation scholars and fellows. More than $35,000 in journalism scholarships and fellowships will be awarded in May 2020.

The Radio Television Digital News Foundation’s scholarship program aims to enable students to pursue their passion for the critical public service that is journalism. RTDNF also offers fellowship opportunities for recent graduates and new professional journalists with fewer than 10 years of experience.

Past recipients include David Muir, anchor and managing editor of ABC World News Tonight with David Muir and co-anchor of ABC’s 20/20, and the late James Foley. Winners have gone on to careers as White House speechwriters, media regulatory attorneys and journalism educators.

Nine scholarships for journalism students and four fellowships for new professionals for are available, and recipients are also invited to Excellence in Journalism 2020, September 10-12 in Washington, DC.
