“On the Margin of the Sky” (2018) by Dee Plecic narrates the author’s experiences during the violent dissolution of Yugoslavia and the ensuing fratricidal warfare between the Bosnians, Croats, and Serbs.

The book has been well received by readers for its harrowing portrayal of “the biggest genocide in Europe after Hitler,” as Plecic, a survivor of the Siege of Sarajevo, calls it. It tells the amazing story of courage, endurance, and perseverance of the author and all others who were caught in the ravages of the ethnic conflicts, wars of independence, and insurgencies that tore apart the once “powerful united Yugoslavia.”

“My book is a wakeup call for all people on this planet to not be brainwashed with political propaganda, religious propaganda, (and) mass media propaganda,” said Plecic, “that produce the hatred, divided people and genocide. It is the story about (the) awakening volcano of nationalism that produced ethnic cleansing and the biggest genocide in Europe after Hitler’s time.”
