Allen Cato Releases “40 Plus Years”

“40 Plus Years” is a collection of lovely poems inspired by a family tradition—writing one poem on Christmas Eve and hanging it on the tree.

Author Allen Cato and his family moved from Indiana to North Carolina. They moved to a large house on a large farm where the author and his wife, Adrian, raised their three kids—Jo, Mike, and Dan.

One Christmas Eve, the author thought of writing a poem for his wife. He hung it on the tree and she found it the very next day. She loved it so much that she asked him to write a poem every Christmas. Thus began a family tradition that has survived more than forty years.

“40 Plus Years” consists of poems that found inspiration from living on a huge farm and from living with a wonderful family who loves and supports each other.

About the Author
In 1961, Allen Cato had a full scholarship in the biochemistry graduate school in Duke University. To make extra cash, he worked as a cashier at the hospital cafeteria at Duke Hospital, where she met Adrian, his wife, who was then a scholar at the nursing school of Rutherford Hospital. Although they were both busy, they found time to be together, doing whatever was available on campus. Later on, Adrian became the author’s inspiration for his first poem and she was the one who strongly encouraged the author to keep the poems an annual tradition.
