“The Boo! Buddies and Mister Moon” Sheds Light to the Night

Andover, New Jersey United States – WEBWIRE

Beverly Kirby Seibel, a commercial illustrator for many years and many children’s books, has, in retirement, tried her hand as author of a Halloween book: “The BOO! Buddies and Mister Moon.” The book is intended for children between 3 and 6 years, but other ages may enjoy it as well. It’s a story of three friends: BOOps, a ghost witch who is observant and detects problems; BOOgie, a pumpkin Devil who analyzes problems; and BOOmer, a black cat wizard who solves problems. Though ghosts, Devils, and black cats are traditionally considered scary, these three have sympathy for poor Mister Moon who wishes he could go Trick-or-Treating on Halloween. The problem is how in the world to send some of their treats way up to Mister Moon. Most young children have trouble with the concept of sharing, so this book uses the talents of its three friends to solve the problem and show the pleasure that can be experienced through sharing.

There is also an example in the three protagonists of how joining together in a common interest can establish the basis for enduring friendships.

Ms. Seibel has written her book in simple, bouncy rhyme because poetry, being easy to memorize and remember, assists children to read at an early age. So “The BOO! Buddies and Mister Moon” offers a threefold benefit to children being read to, or just learning to read.  And it’s a very cute story!

“The Boo! Buddies and Mister Moon” book is available at Amazon.com.

Beverly Kirby Seibel began her career in San Francisco where she attended the California School of Fine Arts, then spent four years free-lancing in New Orleans creating, among other things, Mardi Gras posters and the famous “Breakfast at Brennan’s” rooster logo. She moved to Manhattan in 1960 and began specializing in children’s projects. She has illustrated Golden Books for Western Publishing Company, books for Random House, and Barbie books and projects for Mattel. She has done game illustrations for Milton-Bradley, Parker Brothers and Hasbro, and Raggedy Ann and Andy for Bobbs-Merril, and has lent her talents to picture publishing and giftware design. There she created and licensed “Daisy”, “The Kirbyville Kids,” “The Hollykins,” and designs in wearing apparel and home décor under the “By Beverly” label. Now she has created three loveable Halloween characters that she hopes will add pleasure to that holiday.
