Lazarus Jawiyambe Discusses Africa and America’s Partnership in the 21st Century

The United States and Africa’s relationship was primarily defined by the slave trade and the Cold War, which sprouted misunderstandings between the two. In his first book, entitled “Cordial Relations Between Africa and America in the Twenty-First Century: How the United States Can Help to Transform the Continent,” Lazarus Jawiyambe enlightens its readers on the US-African relationship.

Since the advent of the Cold War, the United States and the African nations had had a misunderstanding that led to their rough relationship. Due to Africa’s mistrust towards the United States, it preferred to ally with communist countries such as the former USSR, Europeans, and China. The author delves into the primary event that led to America and Africa’s unstable relationship. According to the author, Africa’s misunderstanding of the United States’ intentions led to their mistrust towards the latter. Thus, engagements in a dialogue between the two countries are vital in countering misunderstanding; consequently, transforming the African continent, with its people, in the right direction towards a brighter future.

Jawiyambe constructively discusses both the United States and the African continent’s sides—from their weakness down to their political interests. The community of Africa only wants one thing, and that is change—change for the improvement of their lives, and a fair and democratic country, to which America is willing to extend its help.

About the Author

Lazarus Jawiyambe lives in Savannah, Georgia. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and earned his Master of Arts in Public Administration at Savannah State University. He was a member of the Technical Staff of the Uganda Embassy, Brussels Belgium. He formerly worked as an Assistant Front Office Manager at Kampala International Hotel in Kampala, Uganda. At present, he is a Retail Sales Professional at the Belk Company in Savannah, Georgia Area. He is a loving husband to his wife and a father of three children.
