Colorado Non-Profit PIVOT Expands Board of Trustees

Three Denver business leaders join PIVOT founders John Elway, Larry Mueller and George Solich to support Colorado youth

PIVOT, the Denver-based non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of Colorado’s youth, announced three new trustees: Navin Dimond, Walter Rakowich, and Kent Thiry. They join founders John Elway, Larry Mueller and George Solich, and will bring additional corporate and non-profit experience to the board.

Since its launch, PIVOT has led successful collaborative programs with local groups such as Big Green, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Girls Athletic Leadership School of Denver (GALS), and DU School of Psychology. Focusing on four key areas, including academic success, mental well-being, nutrition, and career readiness, the organization works with Denver’s most impactful non-profits to achieve measurable, long-term results.
 
PIVOT welcomes the following individuals to its board of trustees:

  • Navin Dimond is the founder, president and CEO of Stonebridge Companies, the leading hotel development and hospitality management company with a portfolio of 60 hotels nationwide, including more than 20 in the state of Colorado. In addition to PIVOT, Dimond serves in an advisory role for a variety of organizations. He is on the board of trustees for the University of Denver and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA), and he is on the foundation board for Metropolitan State University (MSU) of Denver. He is also a board member of the Denver Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau (VISIT DENVER).
  • Walter Rakowich is the former CEO of Prologis, the leading provider of distribution facilities and services with over $50 billion in assets and operations in the Americas, Europe and Asia. He is currently the chairman of the board of Colorado UpLift and serves on several boards of trustees including the Alliance for School Choice in Education (ACE), Host Hotels & Resorts, Iron Mountain Inc., Ventas Inc., the Global Food Exchange, and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT). 
  • Kent Thiry is executive chairman of DaVita, a FORTUNE 200 company with 64,000 employees and approximately $11 billion in revenues. The company operates in 10 countries globally, delivering clinically-differentiated health care to more than 230,000 patients. Thiry is an experienced industry expert and regularly speaks about leadership and culture at top business schools, companies and not-for-profit leadership groups. He currently chairs Colorado Thrives, a group consisting primarily of large Colorado company CEOs focused on advancing the general well-being of Colorado and all its citizens, and he is a co-founder of Colorado Endeavor, an international entrepreneurial network. He also co-founded The Aspen Group with Senators Bill Frist and Tom Daschle and sits on the Global Board of the Nature Conservancy.
