Rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers performed a private concert at the home of Oceana Board President Keith Addis and his wife Keri Selig to help raise money for Oceana, the largest international organization dedicated to ocean conservation.

Band members singer Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer performed several hits spanning their career, including “Californication,” “Aeroplane,” “Higher Ground,” “Give it Away” and “Don’t Forget Me.”

“I was thrilled to host the Red Hot Chili Peppers tonight as we gathered to support Oceana’s proven campaigns to protect our oceans,” Addis said. “I want to thank the Red Hot Chili Peppers and all the wonderful attendees for their support of Oceana. It is truly an inspiration to all of us who fight to save the world’s oceans.”

Guests at the fourth annual “Rock Under the Stars” event included Jeff Goldblum, Diane Lane, Ed Begley, Jr., Tommy Chong, Anjelica Huston, Dylan McDermott, Carly Steel and more. Attendees enjoyed cocktails (bars were underwritten by Pernod Ricard) and a water station provided by FloWater, as well as hors-d’oeuvres and desserts.

Oceana CEO Andy Sharpless addressed the crowd about Oceana’s global campaign to reduce ocean plastic pollution, before the band took the stage.

“Oceana is bringing together technology, science, law, communications and grassroots engagement to turn off the tap on ocean plastic pollution,” Sharpless said. “That’s the way we get things done.  When we set a goal for the oceans, we bring everything we can to the job of winning.”

“Rock Under the Stars” is an annual, star-studded event held in support of Oceana. Previous performers have included Dead and Company, Sting, Don Henley and Jackson Browne. This year’s event raised more than $900,000 for the ocean conservation non-profit.
