New Survey Shows Mom Wants to Have More Time to Watch Her Favorite TV Shows

May 6, 2005 - DALLAS, TX – America’s free national membership organization for moms, ClubMom, is celebrating Mother’s Day by presenting free TiVo® DVRs to new moms at Dallas’ famous Parkland Memorial Hospital. Beginning today, TiVo Inc. (NASDAQ: TIVO), creator of and a leader in television services for digital video recorders, will provide each new mom with a TiVo Series2™ DVR with a product lifetime service subscription. TiVo is ideal because it allows moms to share and experience television, music, photos and other content – whenever their busy schedules allow.
“One of the toughest transitions for women is to become a parent,” said Meredith Vieira, television personality, co-founder of ClubMom, and mother of three. “We’re already stretched thin with the demands of everyday life, and the first thing to go is time for ourselves. What better way to say that you care about mom than to help her put personal hours back in her day. TiVo makes that possible, allowing mom to take control of her TV.”

According to a new survey for TiVo conducted by Synovate, 91 percent of mothers with children would like to be able to watch their favorite TV shows any time they choose. And almost 80 percent of moms who responded to the survey said they would love to receive a TiVo DVR for Mother’s Day. Also, 88 percent of moms surveyed said they’d like to be able to record their kids’ favorite TV shows on a TiVo DVR.

“A TiVo DVR is the perfect gift for new mothers who need to quickly adjust to the challenges of a family, work, and home – but need to be able to choose the time when they’re able to relax,” said Matt Wisk, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at TiVo. “With exclusive features such as Season Pass recordings, WishList searches, and TiVoToGo transfers, moms who bring a TiVo DVR home can enjoy all the great things about bringing home a new baby and still enjoy the pastime of television whenever they choose to watch.”

“Being a new mother brings unique challenges; an ever-changing schedule is certainly one of them. Our patients will benefit from the entertainment flexibility TiVo brings them,” said Cathy Hanold, senior vice president of the Women’s & Infants’ Specialty Health department at Parkland Health & Hospital System. “The birth of a child is always a special event; TiVo makes it even more special this Mother’s Day.”
