“The Kannon Poems” is a poetry collection by Dwight Cavanagh. The book will be featured at the coming Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany on October 16–20, 2019.

“The Kannon Poems” includes seven cantos and six other individual poems—every single one of which reflects the artistic depth and insights of poet Dwight Cavanagh. The poem “Freud,” for example, Cavanagh claims, “The only passions that last are the passions of the mind.”

About the Author
Dwight Cavanagh was educated at MIT, Johns Hopkins (MD), and Harvard (PhD). During a forty-year career as an eye surgeon, visual scientist, and educator, he served on the medical faculties of Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Emory, Georgetown, and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He currently lives with his wife, Lynn Gantt Cavanagh, and their black shih tzu dog named Kobo Daishi in Dallas, Texas, and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He has had a lifelong interest in poetry, philosophy, Japanese culture, and Zen.
