Darlene Ewers grew up in Piper, Kansas, with two younger sisters. She attended St. John’s College in Winfield as a parish-worker student. She met her husband on an assignment to Jackson, Michigan, and their fifty years of marriage has been blessed with four sons, all married and with families of their own.
