PILOT and NAB Foundation Announce Winners of Technology Internship Grants to NAB Members for Spring 2020

Program provides funding for NAB member stations to offer paid internships to undergraduate students in radio and television engineering/technology positions


WASHINGTON, D.C. – WEBWIRE

PILOTNAB’s technology innovation initiative, announced today the winners of the latest round of its program that provides grants to National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) members to establish paid engineering or media-technology internships at their radio and television stations. The program is provided in partnership with the National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Foundation as part of an effort to grow technical and engineering talent for the industry.

The program, initiated in the Spring 2019 term, has provided technology internship grants to 13 NAB member organizations to date.

Grants for the Spring 2020 term will be provided to the following NAB members:

  • WISR/WBUT/WLER, Butler County Radio Network, Butler, PA
  • KNXV, Scripps Media, Inc., Phoenix, AZ
  • WNKY, Marquee Broadcasting, Bowling Green, KY
  • WKAR-AM, -FM, -TV, Michigan State University, E. Lansing, MI


Sam Matheny, NAB’s executive vice president and chief technology officer said, “We have been encouraged by the response to this program and are thrilled to continue it for a second year. PILOT and the NAB Leadership Foundation remain committed to assisting NAB member stations in attracting the best and brightest new candidates to a career in broadcast technology.”

The program seeks to help NAB members that do not currently offer engineering or media-technology internships. The program will also provide resources to assist selected stations in identifying and supporting interns, as well as assistance for the selected interns to attend the 2020 NAB Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
