With freshwater species populations falling by 83% on average since 1970, there is an urgent need to raise awareness about the plight of the world’s freshwater biodiversity and launch an Emergency Recovery Plan to reverse this trend.

To highlight the challenges facing freshwater species as well as potential solutions, WWF and the French Water Partnership are hosting a Global Dialogue on Biodiversity and Freshwater in Paris on October 2nd.

The event will inlcude a special screening of the freshwater episode from the Emmy award winning Netflix series Our Planet. A groundbreaking collaboration between Netflix, Silverback Films and WWF, Our Planet showcases the world’s remaining natural wonders, iconic species and wildlife spectacles.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on threats to rivers, wetlands and biodiversity in France and across the globe and the best ways to tackle them.
