Cannes films bound for the Oscars
It’s official, Les Misérables by Ladj Ly, which garnered the Jury Prize at Cannes last May, will represent France at the 2020 Oscars! It’s the 9th Cannes film to compete for the the Best Foreign Film gong. Last year, 87 films from round the world vied for the prize. By tradition, the preselection, comprising 9 films, is announced in December. The 5 films nominated in this category will be revealed in January 2020 and the Oscars ceremony will be held on 9 February.
