Don’t miss this beautiful children’s book at the Miami Book Fair.

Avid readers of children’s literature should check out “The Red Oak Rocking Chair” (LifeRich Publishing; 2018) by Nelibeth Plaza at the Miami Book Fair 2019 Street Fair on November 22-24, 2019 at Miami Dade College (Wolfson Campus) in Downtown Miami, Florida.

The picture book marked the author’s entry into the publishing world. “When I had some time off from teaching due to an injury, I was able to start my writing career,” wrote Plaza, an elementary school teacher and formerly as an assistant principal, in a Facebook post.

“The Red Oak Rocking Chair” is inspired by the said family heirloom that played witness to the life and times of the author’s family. The author describes it as “a handcrafted, wooden rocking chair, intended for giving comfort and pleasure to others, goes on its own journey of love, joy, discomfort, excitements, pleasure, and pain as a new baby comes into the family.”

“The rocking chair really does exist,” said Plaza, “and is still being used after four generations.”

Through her children’s book, the author hopes to impart the lesson that it takes a village to raise a child and highlight the importance of each family member involved in raising them.

The Midwest Book Review called the book “an ideal and entertaining addition to family, elementary school, and community library picture book collections for children ages 5-8.”
