2019 Guggenheim International Gala to Honor Frank Gehry, Peter Lawson-Johnston, Mary Sharp Cronson, and Caroline Cronson

The 2019 Guggenheim International Gala will be held on November 13 and 14. Both evenings will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the museum’s Frank Lloyd Wright-designed building and its recent inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and honor four individuals who have historic affiliations with the Guggenheim: Frank Gehry, the preeminent architect of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and the forthcoming Guggenheim Abu Dhabi; Peter Lawson-Johnston, honorary chair of the Guggenheim Foundation and grandson of museum founder Solomon R. Guggenheim; Mary Sharp Cronson, founder and board president emerita of Works & Process, the long-standing performing arts program at the Guggenheim Museum; and Caroline Cronson, producer of Works & Process.  Festivities kick off with the Pre-Party on November 13, featuring a dynamic performance by the French musician Christine and the Queens. The Guggenheim International Gala is the museum’s annual signature fundraising event, providing essential support for its world-renowned exhibition and educational programming, and stewardship of the building and unparalleled collection of modern and contemporary works of art.

Tickets to the Pre-Party go on sale September 19. Tickets are $225 for members and $250 for general admission and include a performance by Christine and the Queens, an open bar, and a viewing of Artistic License: Six Takes on the Guggenheim Collection, the first-ever artist-curated exhibition at the Guggenheim in which six contemporary artists offer a critical examination of the museum’s collection. A one-year membership to the Young Collectors Council (YCC) (valued at $600) may be combined with an individual ticket to the Pre-Party for the discounted price of $750. A celebrated figure in contemporary pop music, French artist Christine and the Queens is known for immaculate dance routines and showmanship.
