Bergman & Beving acquires one of Sweden’s largest resellers in work clothes

WEBWIRE

Bergman & Beving has concluded an agreement to acquire 100 percent of the shares outstanding in the Mercus Yrkeskläder Group (Mercus), including its subsidiaries Mercus Yrkeskläder i Göteborg AB and Mercus Yrkeskläder i Malmö AB. Mercus is one of the largest specialised suppliers of work clothes, shoes, profile clothing, gloves, etc. for small and medium-sized companies in the industrial and construction sectors in Sweden. Mercus has six professional outlets in Göteborg, Malmö, Jönköping, Linköping and Helsingborg. Mercus has net revenues of approximately MSEK 90 per annum with good profitability and has 39 employees.

This acquisition further strengthens Bergman & Beving’s and the TOOLS chain’s market position as a supplier of work clothes and personal protection equipment in western and southern Sweden. Opportunities for further expansion are deemed to be good, in part by development of standardised store solutions in the area of work clothes for the industrial resellers in the TOOLS chain.

Closing is expected to take place in mid-January 2007. The acquisition is expected to have a marginally positive effect on Bergman & Beving’s earnings per share during the current financial year.
