Of Theories and Personal Beliefs

Balancing the scale

Science has taken extreme measures to explore and explain the universe around us. Sacrifices have been made, failures have been overcome, and visions have been sharpened to give us the bodies of knowledge and information readily available to us today. However, science amounts to nothing when pitted against personal beliefs—the things one believes in even without basis or logic, the things we believe in due to our experiences. These beliefs spring from faith and faith does not require proof. Between theories that are oftentimes still missing real tangible proofs and personal beliefs that are often handed down from one generation to the next, the scale most certainly tips in favor to the latter.

In “Divine Principles,” author Ken Ungerecht does the exact opposite of debunking personal beliefs or concluding scientific theories. Instead, Ungerecht uses physical and metaphysical theories to establish what we all believe due to our faith.
