“Thanks guys,” Dasher said. I’ll be back to help pull the sleigh next Christmas.”

What is more exciting than receiving gifts during Christmas? To be caring for one another. This is the lesson that E. Dorinda Shelley wants to impart to kids through her book “Dasher and the Sleigh-Train,” formerly “Santa’s Sleigh-Train.”

Published by PRGott Books Publishing and illustrated by Eleanor A. Hutton, “Dasher and the Sleigh-Train” follows the story of the strongest reindeer named Dasher. On Christmas Eve Dasher told Santa he was sick, so Santa immediately sent him to the infirmary, where he developed red spots on his cheeks.  The nurse diagnosed reindeer pox. Dasher missed out on the fun of distributing the toys to numerous children and rested in the infirmary that night.

The next day the other reindeer came to visit Dasher and asked him if he felt sorry about missing the trip. Dasher said he wasn’t really that sad. To him, delivering the toys on time was most important, even if he couldn’t help. Afterwards, the reindeer gathered and sang their favorite song, “Jingle Bells,” for Dasher. When Dasher heard their singing, he began to feel better. Indeed, showing concern and care for someone in need can make everybody feel better!

Kids and parents are warmly invited this November as E. Dorinda Shelley presents her book “Dasher and the Sleigh-Train” at the 2019 Miami Book Fair International. The country’s oldest and biggest literary and cultural gathering happens at the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus on November 22 to 24, 2019. Save the date!
