Bloomberg announced today that B-PIPE, Bloomberg’s flagship real-time market data feed, will now be available to clients globally in the cloud through Amazon Web Services (AWS). Building on the initial launch of B-PIPE in the cloud for U.S.-based clients, Bloomberg will work with AWS to support customers around the world to gain immediate and reliable access to real-time market data.

B-PIPE will be available in the cloud for Bloomberg Enterprise clients across North America, Europe, and Asia via AWS and is one of the only cloud native real-time data products suitable for capital markets use cases. The service will provide access to the same normalized, consolidated real-time market data available through the Bloomberg Terminal, without any compromise on precision, quality or reliability. With B-PIPE accessible on-premise, hosted, and now on the cloud, clients across the globe can choose their preferred deployment method for real-time data delivery.

“As capital markets increasingly embrace the cloud, financial professionals are seeking front office quality applications that provide no-compromise reliability paired with potential cost savings and performance enhancements,” said Tony McManus, Chief Information Officer for Enterprise Data at Bloomberg. “As we continue our journey to service global customer applications irrespective of their deployment model, we have expanded our relationship with AWS to provide continued efficient data delivery and improved speed to value, core commitments of our business.”

Amid a growing focus on the cloud, front offices are seeking high-quality content from enterprise applications that are flexible, scalable and secure, providing desired insights and analytics in a cost-effective manner.

“Having access to high-quality real-time market data in the cloud is critical to our business as we continue to expand our data footprint,” said Jimmy Karalis, Director of Data Sourcing & Strategy at Balyasny Asset Management. “Connecting to B-PIPE on AWS allows us to capitalize on several operational efficiencies, while reducing our overall spend.”

“Expanding B-PIPE’s availability in the cloud allows clients to easily work with market leading real-time data alongside Bloomberg’s high-quality reference, valuation, regulatory and accounting data,” continues McManus.

“Capital markets firms are increasingly realizing the benefits of running applications on AWS, including increased agility and the ability to innovate at a faster rate than previously possible,” said Scott Mullins, Head of Worldwide Financial Services Business Development at Amazon Web Services, Inc. “The ability to connect quickly and effortlessly to Bloomberg‘s enterprise-quality market data in AWS Regions around the world and immediately bring to bear our industry-leading data analytics, data management and machine learning tools is a competitive advantage in an industry where the quality of data, and the speed in which you can derive insights from it matters.”

About B-PIPE

Bloomberg B-PIPE is globally available on AWS PrivateLink, which simplifies the security of data shared with cloud-based applications by eliminating the exposure of data to the public Internet.

With B-PIPE’s fully managed service available on the cloud, clients can simultaneously stream data for 35 million instruments across all asset classes, including data aggregated from more than 330 exchanges and over 5,000 contributors. Using a common API, B-PIPE clients can deploy a single application – either on-premise, via hosted, or on the cloud – without having to worry about capacity limitations and bypassing the need for expensive telecommunications links and integration labor.

B-PIPE is part of Bloomberg’s Enterprise Data business, which produces high-quality pricing, reference and regulatory data sets, real-time market, event and news data, liquidity analytics along with data management and distribution technologies.
