Quote: It is an experience God will not let me forget. It has been however, good to remember Desta’s face, as it prevents me from becoming insensitive to the pain and suffering of those who dwell with me in my community, and on this planet.

Missionary and author Dr. Byron Conner releases a powerful documentary on Ethiopia’s famine and a gratifying insight on missionary work through his book “The Face of Hunger: Reflections on a Famine in Ethiopia.” Published by ReadersMagnet in 2018, Dr. Conner wrote this book as his first-hand experience on the devastating crisis in the East African nation when he worked as a missionary doctor from 1984 to 1987.

Dr. Conner felt compelled to travel to Ethiopia with his family after watching the humanitarian crisis on television. It was an informational fund-raising campaign by the relief organization World Vision in early 1984. In it Dr. Conner saw images of emaciated children and hopeless mothers. He had a growing feeling that someone should change that situation in Ethiopia. That’s when he started to feel that that “someone” should be him.

Meanwhile, more poignant insights of Dr. Conner will be revealed as he uncovers his biography at the 2019 Frankfurt International Book Fair on October 16-20, 2019. Book lovers are welcome to join the largest literary festival in the world at the Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage 1 in Frankfurt, Germany. Don’t miss it!
