“Really enjoyed this book. Good plot with strong characters. Thorough description of geology and environment made everything realistic. Would recommend this book to anyone.” - Amazon Review

If you need a likely scenario for when a section of America’s far-right extremists takes their ideology to war, then Marie Jackson’s debut novel, “Shadow Saints: America’s Armageddon (Sam and Mickey Book 1)” is the perfect read.

Set in secluded, mountainous Idaho, the book dives into a fictitious religious cult, Covenant of Saints. It is growing in number, led by a clever and manipulative man, Calvin Rood, preaching his ambitious plot to make America listen to their steadfast beliefs. Calvin Rood, willing to play a long and waiting game of setting their plans in motion, uses conservative media to amass rabid, loyal following from the discouraged, the disenfranchised, the wealthy, the greedy politicians, and the blind devout.

At the center of this explosive narrative, is Sam Watkins, whose father was killed, and his sister kidnapped, by the cult in its earlier operations. Now an FBI agent, he has learned that his sister is still alive, and with the help of a local woman, Mickey Sheean, tries to infiltrate the cult’s compound in the Idaho Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Area. There, they learn the extent of the cult’s intent, evidenced by the high number of highly-enriched uranium stored.

“Shadow Saints” is your next big, suspense-thriller that reflects today’s headlines and television talk shows that invade every household. Though fiction, it is chilling to note similarities in comparing and contrasting of how the author describes an organization that blatantly deviates, against established, existing-up-and-coming organizations emboldened by the current optics of the political landscape.

As the author says of her book, “And the scary thing is, all of this can really happen.”

Shadow Saints: America’s Armageddon (Sam and Mickey Book 1) will be displayed in the upcoming Word on the Street, the biggest literary event in Canada this year on September 14 in Halifax, on September 21 in Lethbridge, and lastly on September 22 in Toronto. Grab a copy of her book at Amazon and your favorite online book retailers.
