Mansfield, Texas, USA – WEBWIRE

“As the Senator left their presence, the young patricians discovered that they could not say one word to each other. They were truly struck dumb”.

Author and history enthusiast Debbie Dashner writes an engaging historical novel “The Patricians.” Published by Xlibris, Dashner’s book follows a romantic story between a wise tutor and a glorious soldier set in ancient Rome with a twist of Christian characters.

Caius and his legion, as well as the rest of the Roman army, have just returned from the battlefield of Judaea, and all Roman citizens celebrate and watch their colorful march to their home city. Caius Julius Romulus is the Commander of the Eighth Legion and  Nero assigns him to become the Imperial Escort of Lady Lilia, the daughter of Senator Marcus Junius Flavius, who is a member of Rome’s highest nobility.

At the Opening Ceremony for the annual Games festivities, Caius meets Lilia. Senator Flavius allows the two to talk for a few minutes and leaves them before the ceremony starts, yet not one them could say a word to each other. When the opening ceremony ends, Lilia is teased by her sister, Callia, in their abode. Lilia can’t deny how she was dumbfounded by Caius earlier. Meanwhile, Caius can’t repudiate how he was captivated by Lilia, too.

At the end of that day in their own places, Caius and Lilia are hoping for an enjoyable season. What will the future hold for Caius and Lilia? Will their affection level up to a sweeping connection?

About the Author
Debbie Dashner has always wanted to write a story, her version of the early Christians. The story began when she was only nineteen, greatly influenced by Jane Austen. She was imagining the characters casually sitting around the table, talking about their plans for the day. As she was speaking about the ideas, she then asked herself, “Why not put this setting back in Ancient Rome?”
