Very Inspirational book, written from the heart. A good read. - Amazon Review

Honesty, passion, steadfastness – these are qualities of Andrew Henson’s poetry collection, “I Was Born to Dew” that instantly leap out at you. Without fuss, he writes down the genuine flow of emotions emanating from a past and experience-fueled life. His poetry is grounded, real, and always reaching out to the depths of your consciousness.

The book is by design, deliberate in its attempt to be inspiring, the author himself describing it: “there is a lot of inspiration and creativity that went into all the works.” While some may categorize this book as serious, most would contradict that with lines from poems that are funny, hilarious, and romantic.

The poem “Struggle”, written after an epilepsy attack, is raw in its messaging but devoid of self-pity. It instead is filled with promise, of courage and optimism.

The author writes in free verse forms, but he also left out some blank pages, meant to draw the reader into jotting down whatever creativity is spurned – a doodle, a word, phrases, picture, or a series of art interpretation.

He issues an enthusiastic invitation: “People should buy this book because there is a poem for everyone. If you are going through something in your life, there is a poem that will lift you up.”

Andrew Henson is simple in his goal: “I write to inspire others, my life has been hard, and the only way for me to really express myself is through my writing. I write about my past to show everyone that reads it that not everyone who had a rough childhood is bad. Anyone can change their life around and be better, and if you have problems going on in your life, I hope my book can inspire you to write about your problems it’s a good way to release.”

“I was Born to Dew” will be displayed in the upcoming Word on the Street, the biggest literary event in Canada this year on September 14 in Halifax, on September 21 in Lethbridge, and lastly on September 22 in Toronto. Grab a copy of his book at Amazon and your favorite online book retailers.

About the Author

My name is Andrew Henson, but I like to be called Dew. I started writing poetry when I was a senior in high school. I took creative writing only because it was the most interesting class available at the time. I started out writing short stories, but I wasn’t very fawned of them. I wrote a few poems and I liked writing them instantly. I like that they don’t have to be very long, and I love that they don’t have to be written in paragraphs. Writing became a way for me to release my anger without using words or physical contact. I have had it very tough my entire life, so I know what it’s like to be down, and feel like you amount to nothing. I just want to be an inspiration or a role model to people who don’t have one.
