NAVTEQ® European Maps Power ROUTE 66’s Chicago Series
The ultra slim Chicago series visualizes navigation on widescreen in 3D
Chicago, IL – December 4, 2006 – NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, has been selected by ROUTE 66 to supply the latest European digital map data for the recently launched Chicago series – four, ultra slim designed, portable car navigation systems.
The Chicago series is supplied with a detailed country map or a pan-European map and features a 2D/3D view, plus a day-and-night view, fuzzy search, free safety camera information for most European countries and advanced infotainment such as an MP3 player with earphones. The series is one of the slimmest and lightest widescreen PNDs (personal navigation devices) currently available. With the launch of the Chicago series, ROUTE 66 is making a significant entry into the portable navigation hardware market.
“To make the most of this navigation application we wanted to provide our customers with access to the most accurate and detailed maps and chose the latest NAVTEQ data, the recently released Q2 2006 maps, to power the Chicago series,” commented Job van Dijk, Chief Commercial Officer ROUTE 66.
There are four different versions in the Chicago Series: the Chicago 6000 and 7000 target the regional traveller, while Chicago 8000 and 9000 are aimed at the European traveller and include pan-European maps. The Chicago 7000 and 9000 are also equipped with traffic information (where available) by means of integrated RDS-TMC. Prices range between €299.95 and €449.95. Additionally, a DVD “Map of Europe” to upgrade the Chicago 6000 and 7000 is available for € 119.95.
