Traffic results for July 2019: With 5.7 Percent Again Strong Increase in Passenger Volume

Over 1.5 million passengers flew with Austrian Airlines in July 2019, comprising an increase of 5.7 percent from the prior-year month. European flight traffic again made a strong contribution to this result with a growth of 6.8 percent. The flight offering measured in available seat kilometers (ASK) reached the level of the previous year. Revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) climbed 1.4 percent. Capacity utilization (passenger load factor) of the flights equaled 86.6 percent on average in July 2019, an increase of 1.2 percentage points compared to the previous year. The number of flights operated by Austrian Airlines was increased by 5.6 percent to 13,491.

“Despite the current competitive situation in Vienna, we were able to increase the number of passengers on our European routes in particular”, says Andreas Otto, Member of the Management Board and CCO of Austrian Airlines. “This shows that more and more passengers are opting for our quality and service.”

Austrian Airlines transported about 8.3 million passengers in the months from January to July 2019, comprising a rise of 5.9 percent from the previous year. The flight offering measured in available seat kilometers was up 4.2 percent. Revenue passenger kilometers climbed 7.0 percent compared to the first seven months of 2018. Capacity utilization of the flights amounted to 79.5 percent, an increase of 2.0 percentage points. The number of flights operated by Austrian Airlines was up 3.7 percent to 79,910 in the months from January to July 2019.
