Acclaimed Irish golfer Shane Lowry enjoys a variety of different sports, but it was the moment his father handed him his first nine iron and putter that sparked his passion for golf. He credits his success to inspiration from his family, his naturally ambitious and competitive spirit and the ongoing support from the experienced team that he’s built around him. All of these components together have helped him move up through the ranks to become the remarkable player he is today.

Lowry recognises that the team around him have made significant contributions to his success and determination— his caddy, Bo, reminds him to relax and not take it all too seriously, while his coach, Neil Manchip, is both mentor and confidant always willing to lend both his expertise and an ear. Everyone on his team—from his caddy, trainer, coach to manager—work together with the common goal of success. 

In a recent exclusive interview with Immedis, Lowry revealed “they all believed in me more than I believed in myself, which helps you along the way because when times are going bad, you know you’ve got a good team around you to steer you back in the right direction.’’ 

As a result of all the hard work, expert coaching and training, when Shane steps foot on the course, he doesn’t worry about being in “the zone”, he knows he and his team have done all they can to prepare. All of the practice, preparation and discipline combine to produce quality results. It’s that same expertise and commitment to excellence that will carry him through on his next big endeavour on the Straits Course at the Ryder Cup in 2020. 

Shane Lowry burst onto the golf scene when he won the Irish Open as an Amateur in 2009. His sporting career has gone from strength to strength ever since, winning a number of international competitions including the Portuguese Masters in 2012 and the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in early 2019.
