Author Tyler Oberheu describes his lightsome story of having Tourette’s Syndrome through his book

Author Tyler Oberheu details his life events from overlooking the symptoms of Tourette’s syndrome early on as a child until his present-day life through his book “Twist & Shout: An Awkward Life with Tourette’s” (ReadersMagnet; 2019). Partly in his book Tyler enumerates the symptoms and even warns that anyone can sustain Tourette’s syndrome; many may be unaware that they have any one of the symptoms of that condition.
 
Of all the symptoms he bears, having OCD is very striking. He cautions readers that having OCD is not being too conscious about cleanliness per se despite the room being clean. In medical sense, OCD is a serious constraint. OCD is the constant “nagging” in a subject’s mind no matter how hard he “shakes it off.” It allows a sufferer of Tourette’s syndrome to hoard old newspapers and junk “in case he needs it.” It also makes him turn around the expressway suddenly and head home to make sure he locked the door. These are just a few instances of having OCD. Tyler lists more of it in his narrative.

About the Author
 
Tyler L. Oberheu was diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome at age 17. At age 20, he sat and wrote this book every day during the summer of 2014 when he should have been working, but the constant yelling and twitching kind of made that hard. In 2017 he underwent Deep Brain Stimulation to treat his Tourette’s, and today he works within the Special Education Department at a local elementary school.
