Tennessee Schools to Receive Bulletproof Backpack Inserts in Honor of Former School Resource Officer

Blue Blood Brotherhood and ShotStopⓇ Ballistics, in connection with Sullivan County Tennessee Sheriff Jeff Cassidy, will be giving away 100 BallisticBoardⓇ bulletproof backpack inserts to Sullivan County Schools.  

On February 26, 2019 Sullivan Central High School Resource Officer Sergeant Steve Hinkle was shot and killed in the line of duty. In honor of Sergeant Hinkle’s dedication and service to the residences of Sullivan County, ShotStop will donate 100 backpack inserts to be given to Higher Needs students at Sullivan County Schools.  

“The goal at ShotStop has always been to save more lives,” said Matt White, Director of Marketing at ShotStop. “And while we didn’t start out thinking we’d be making bulletproof backpack inserts, the unfortunate truth in today’s world is that a product like this is needed and parents are asking for it.” 

ShotStop and Blue Blood Brotherhood have discovered a strong connection between the two organizations, each focused on taking care of the men and women who serve and protect us every day.  

“When we heard the story of Sgt. Hinkle,” explained Tuesday Browning, Co-Founder of Blue Blood Brotherhood, “we felt like we had to do something special to honor his service to his community.” 

Blue Blood Brotherhood is focused on providing assistance for Families of Fallen Officers along with working with Officers suffering from job related injuries including PTSD retired and active duty.  Our goal is to raise funds to purchase much needed equipment for Departments that are smaller and do not have the budget to protect their Officer.  With Community support we can be sure No Officer Walks The Thin Blue Line Alone!

Sergeant Hinkle worked over 30 years at the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office serving his community with honor and pride. ShotStop and Blue Blood Brotherhood are very proud to offer these bulletproof backpack inserts to the students of Sullivan Central High in honor of Sergeant Steve Hinkle.  

“We certainly hope they will never have to use them,” said Browning, “but like a fire extinguisher or seatbelt, it’s better to have it and never use it than need it and not have it.” 

Blue Blood Brotherhood and ShotStop will be making a presentation to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and Sullivan County School Board on August 9, 2019, at 11:00am at the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.
