Based on a true story, “The Sea Inside” follows Ramón Sampedro (Bardem), fighting a 30-year campaign for the right to end his life with dignity, which inspired both support and criticism throughout the world. The film presents Ramón’s relationships with two women: Julia (Belén Rueda), a lawyer who supports his cause, and Rosa (Lola Dueñas), a local woman who wants to convince him that life is worth living. Through his love, they are inspired to accomplish the seemingly impossible. Despite his wish to die, Ramón teaches everyone he encounters the meaning and value of life.
