Schneider Makes Food Logistics’ Top Green Providers 2019 List

Compiled annually, the Top Green Providers honor recognizes companies whose products, services or exemplary leadership is enhancing sustainability within the food and beverage industry.

Each year, the criteria for earning a spot on the list become more stringent for applicants. The Food Logistics editorial staff evaluates a company’s participation in such programs as the EPA’s SmartWay and other recognized sustainability programs; facilities that are LEED-certified, and/or feature solar panels, LED lighting and other energy saving installations and retrofits that produce measurable reductions in GHG emissions, to name a few.

Today, most of the tractors added to Schneider’s fleet are equipped with an auxiliary power unit, which reduces idling of the main engine. The company has improved fuel efficiency by 14.8 percent since 2008, and it reduced fuel consumption by 5 million gallons between 2017–2018.
