Public Interest Protest To Be Held Regarding La Escandella LLC’s Tile Importation

Cevil International and Mediterranean Tile arranged a protest of Servifast and La Escandella LLC’s tile importation in front of Servifast International , 7999 N.W. 81st Place, Miami, FL 33166, on December 1, 2006, at 9:00 am The purpose of the protest is to inform the public of certain alleged misrepresentations and improper marketing campaigns which were engaged in by La Escandella LLC and its foreign subsidiaries.

Cevil International and Mediterranean Tile have alleged in complaints that Servifast and La Escandella unfairly gain the confidence of local companies by providing written contracts promising exclusive agreements, and then offering similar contracts to other companies.

Cevil International and Mediterranean Tile have asserted in filings that Servifast and La Escandella LLC used local companies to build product awareness, but subsequently violated the agreed exclusivity contract while conspiring to use other companies to import their tile and roofing products and offering the identical exclusivity agreements.

The protest will also warn potential customers that any tile installed may be subject to removal and/or fines since the distribution is being made without the proper Notice Of Acceptance. Pursuant to current statutes in all Florida counties, roof tile may only be distributed pursuant to the rigorous standards of approval pursuant to the guidelines of the Miami-Dade County Building Code Compliance Office (BCCO). As such, the tile sold may not be lawfully installed in most Florida counties.

Finally, Cevil International and Mediterranean Tile have viewed cease and desist notices issued to end users of the tile imported by Servifast and La Escandella LLC which were issued by La Escandella, Inc., a Florida corporation, that alleges the exclusive use of the name La Escandella for tile products in Florida and throughout the United States. The protest will enable persons to obtain information about the potential liabilities of using tile imported from Servifast and La Escandella LLC.
