Aladdin and MedStar Health to detail extensive deployment of Aladdin eToken USB smart card solution for patient data protection

CHICAGO, November 29, 2006 - Aladdin Knowledge Systems (Nasdaq:ALDN), the leader in Software DRM, strong authentication and content security solutions, today announced that Aladdin and MedStar Health, a $2.7 billion non-profit, community-based healthcare organization serving the Baltimore/Washington region, will present on the successful deployment of thousands of Aladdin eToken USB smart card devices for securing MedStar’s patient data.

On Thursday, November 30th from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Gartner Identity & Access Management Summit 2006 in Las Vegas, Shlomi Yanai, vice president of the Aladdin eToken Business Unit, and Jason Kreuter, Ph.D., associate director for the MedStar e-Health and the MedStar Clinical Portal, are scheduled to present the highly-anticipated session, “Seven Habits for Highly Effective Implementation of Strong Authentication.” Increasingly, organizations are adopting strong authentication solutions to meet their security requirements. The session evaluates the success of such implementations and outlines what actions lead to the best results. Yanai and Kreuter will present real-world examples and discuss the important considerations when implementing authentication tokens, from evaluation to execution.

In January, Aladdin announced that MedStar selected the Aladdin eToken strong authentication device to provide powerful security for doctors and nurses remotely accessing vital hospital applications. Clinicians within seven MedStar-operated hospitals use the USB-based Aladdin eToken to gain access to two critical medical applications storing data from more than 139,000 inpatient admissions and more than 900,000 outpatient visits each year. eToken, about the size of an average house key, requires doctors and nurses to possess the actual token and input the token password in order to access MedStar patient data outside the hospital.
