This isn’t all about fantasy. It is as much about real life as it is about dragons. That is what makes it as wonderful and relatable as it is! - Amazon Review

From real-life adventurer Tanya Fyfe comes a Young Adult book series, with the “Secrets Abound in Missing Lake” packed with more fantasy-coming-to-life action set against a coming-of-age story. Nothing is more appealing than high school life ripe with friendship, daydreams, wishes, hopes, and then embarking on a fantastical quest.

The book has been receiving rave reviews, well-timed with the collective experience of cheering for dragons in a TV series drama. “Secrets Abound in Missing Lake”, however, waits for no one in its climax. It delivers its own pacing - from a rural, mundane life into one that is suddenly fraught with teenage hormones and its growing pains, to nurturing compassion for animal companions that have shaped the better of one’s youth.

The book’s hero is Luke Houser, living an ideal, charming, nature-filled life in the tiny, Montana mountain community of Missing Lake. He has his friends, his animals, a sixteenth birthday to look forward to, mystical dragons, and two dragon eggs. In that summer, he had no forewarning at all that everything in his life would converge and result into choices that aren’t only possibly disastrous and disruptive, but world-changing as well.

The author, who resides with family in Montana, is well-versed in her landscape of the mountains and these words leap out of the book to provide the reader a stunning visualization. The relationships described in the book are also mirrored from her own life, bringing a certain depth of reality that is easily relatable to young readers.

“Secrets Abound in Missing Lake” has received 2 awards. It has been awarded the 2018 Independent Press Awards: Distinguished Favorite for Teen Fiction and the NYC Big Book Award: Distinguished Favorite for Teen Fiction.

“Secrets Abound in Missing Lake” will be displayed in the upcoming Word on the Street, the biggest literary events in Canada this year on June 9 in Saskatoon, September 14 in Halifax, on September 21 in Lethbridge, and lastly on September 22 in Toronto.
