Church elder, linguist and history buff Rev. Dr. Antony O. Hobbs, Sr. published his book “Food for the Power of Thinking: Book 1 Revised” (Dorrance Publishing; 2018) to express the rich tapestry of ancient and contemporary African history. Readers of African-American literature, as well as students of Black Studies, will get the chance to check out the book’s first public exhibit at the Miami Book Fair 2019 Street Fair on November 22-24, 2019 at Miami Dade College (Wolfson Campus) in Downtown Miami.

Founded in 1984 as “Books by the Bay,” the Miami Book Fair aims to promote reading, encourage writing; heighten an awareness of literacy and the literary arts in Miami’s multi-ethnic community; and serve the community through the promotion of craft and the power of the written word. In 2018, the book fair drew an estimated 200,000 visitors and hosted 500+ authors and 200+ exhibitors.

Rev. Dr. Hobbs’ “Food for the Power of Thinking” will be exhibited by ReadersMagnet at the Miami Book Fair.

Geared towards Black pastors and laypeople, the book contains a stock of lectures, poems, and anecdotes to “inform, motivate, and educate” the aforementioned audience “to the importance of African-Americans knowing ancient African history as well as contemporary history of Black achievements in America and the world.” Also, Rev. Dr. Hobbs intends “to introduce material in the diverse history of blacks in the Bible, history of blacks in the sectoral world, including the cycle of human development, from the womb to the tomb.”

It is the author’s mission to provide his intended audience with a better understanding of their people so they may free themselves and their congregations “from Eurocentric mental and spiritual incarceration.” To better inform African-Americans of their culture and history, Rev. Dr. Hobbs has traced the descendants of Ham of the Bible, the father of the black race, and the location of present-day Hamites.
