WWF Statement on Funding Bills
In response to passage of a package of funding bills in the House of Representatives, including for the State Department, USAID, and other foreign assistance programs, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) released the following statement from James Mazzarella, Senior Vice President, Policy and Government Affairs:
“The funding bill passed today by the House of Representatives is a strong investment in U.S. global leadership, including efforts to protect our planet and the vital natural resources it provides. It contains welcome increases for international conservation and programs to combat wildlife trafficking, as well as provisions to uphold America’s commitment to the Paris Agreement.
“From biodiversity loss to climate change, one of the greatest global challenges we are facing in the 21st century is the environment. World Wildlife Fund commends the House of Representatives for recognizing the integral role that conservation plays as part of U.S. foreign assistance. By investing in nature, we also help to make our world more stable, prosperous, and secure.”
