InfoVista Provides Management Software Platform for Cable & Wireless Managed Service Offering

Paris, France and Herndon, VA (United States), November 28, 2006 – InfoVista (NASDAQ: IVTA; Euronext IFV - FR0004031649), the leader in service-centric performance management software, announced today that Cable & Wireless has deployed InfoVista’s VistaInsight software. It will be used as part of a managed service to deliver web-based reporting on server performance for one of Cable & Wireless’ customers, a leading financial management and advisory company.

In order to maximize the server performance of Cable & Wireless’ financial services customer, a dedicated solution was needed that would facilitate performance monitoring, troubleshooting, trend analysis and threshold alarming across various Domain Name System (DNS) services on its network. The solution also had to be capable of delivering real-time and historical reporting for a period of up to 14 months. To meet its customer’s requirements, Cable & Wireless designed a managed service solution based on InfoVista’s performance management software platform.

One of the key reasons Cable & Wireless chose InfoVista was its ability to support the automated discovery, collection, analytics and reporting on BMC Patrol Agents. Cable & Wireless was already using BMC Agents as its underlying technology to discover and monitor designated server systems on the network and wanted to maximize this investment.

“We evaluated a range of vendors but ultimately chose InfoVista because it integrated with our underlying BMC technology. We felt it offered superior support services and product capabilities, and therefore enables us to deliver an excellent solution that meets our customer’s needs,” said David Crawford, director of product management, Cable & Wireless. “In addition, as we have been using InfoVista to monitor our own IP network for the last five years, we already had the necessary skills and internal expertise to implement the technology and therefore could ensure it was a seamless experience for our customer.”

InfoVista’s unique BMC Patrol Integration Module, is used to collect the relevant performance data from more than 200 of the customer’s server resources, including application servers and application availability and optimization appliances among others Cisco Systems and F5 Networks. The Module enables Cable & Wireless to leverage its existing investment in both its out-of-the-box BMC Knowledge Modules and those it has developed in-house, providing it with the capability to build a customized, front-end dashboard to fit the financial services firm’s very specific requirements.

Cable & Wireless’ own front-end dashboard displays VistaInsight for Servers’ sophisticated reports, providing an early warning system that allows Cable & Wireless to identify service degradation and prioritize resources so that performance problems can be resolved in real-time before they have an impact on the customer. By maximizing the utilization of existing servers, and the availability of critical business applications, Cable & Wireless is able to ensure service reliability and uptime.

“The fast growing trend of distributed systems has resulted in a number of organizations having underutilized or saturated servers and spiraling maintenance costs. Our software solution is so successful because it eliminates these issues,” says Julien Dahan, SVP EMEA sales, InfoVista. “By providing enhanced visibility into the performance of the various network appliances and business applications hosted on this leading financial institution’s servers, VistaInsight for Servers has enabled Cable & Wireless to vastly improve operational utilization and service delivery to its customer.”

Since the solution went live, customized reporting for the management of SQL servers can now be completed in days when it previously took weeks. Furthermore, Cable & Wireless estimate that the development required to introduce new devices will only take a quarter of the time previously required.

Cable & Wireless expects to expand the service to include capacity planning and management, and roll the service out to other enterprise customers in the near future.
