Agfa HealthCare announces contract award with Classic Hospitals in UK

Deal includes Agfa HealthCare’s IMPAX™ 6.2 and CR 35-X systems

RSNA (South Hall A #3339) / Chicago, Illinois – November 28, 2006, Agfa HealthCare announces today that Classic Hospitals, a group of ten hospitals based in Reading (UK), has signed an £1.5 Million agreement to install Agfa HealthCare’s next-generation Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS), IMPAX™ 6.2. Additionally, Agfa HealthCare’s CR (Computed Radiography) solution, the CR 35-X, will be installed in each facility to provide both general and mammography digital services. The installation will begin in December 2006, with all ten hospitals expected to be complete by March 2007.

Each of Classic Hospital’s ten facilities is multi-modality, including Orthopaedics, gynecology, breast imaging, and more.

“Three important considerations in choosing Agfa HealthCare solutions were their state-of-the-art web-based solutions, the value for the money, and the benefit of connectivity with the National Health Service (NHS),” said David Gray, COO, Classic Hospitals. “It will soon be mandated that the private sector and the public sector be able to transfer images electronically. This arrangement will ensure that we can service public patients.”

“This partnership further endorses Agfa HealthCare’s commitment to the private sector in the UK, building upon the deployment of PACS in the UK under the ’Connecting for Health’ NHS IT program,” said Adrian Stevens, HealthCare director, Agfa HealthCare, Northern Europe.
