The “Iron Man” Suit Made by College Students and Showcased on the Discovery Channel Reveals Important College Secrets to Success

Thanks to the flying “Iron Man” suit that was built by students at the Colorado School of Mines, students all over the United States are being awakened to the secret opportunities that are available to them in college.

Adam Savage host of the new Discovery Channel TV series “Savage Builds” asked Craig Brice a professor at the Colorado School of Mines if he could create and 3-D print an Iron Man-inspired suit for the show. The professor took on the challenge and enlisted the help of his engineering students expanding their knowledge and enabling them to add the distinctive experience “built an Iron Man suit that flies” on their resume!

“Having access to a 3-D printer is just one of the many secrets to success that college students need to look for when searching for a college,” said Lindy Schneider, coauthor of “College Secrets of Highly Successful People: Keys to Launching a Great Life.”

“Many CEOs and famous people started their careers by utilizing the equipment and opportunities that were available to them on their campus. TV personality Wendy Williams learned everything she could at the student-run radio station on her campus while building her resume. Students need to look for these career-launching opportunities and take advantage of them while they are still in college.”

This summer many families will be visiting college campuses to plan for their child’s future. Schneider urges parents and students to look deeper than just the degrees offered. She says they should ask things like, “Does the college offer internships? What professional equipment does the student have access to: green screens, TV cameras, business software, or cutting-edge technology?”

Schneider recently published a post entitled “8 Things You Must Know Before Starting College” which details exactly what to research when looking into a college. “While it is great to see students pursuing higher education it is important to remember that the goal is not just a degree, but a successful career and life,” Schneider said.
