Don’t miss Alan R. Hall’s enthralling Arthurian fiction novel at the 2019 Miami Book Fair!

Alan R. Hall, a long-time theater critic, added his own contribution to modern Arthurian fiction with his debut novel, titled “The Naked Queen: A Tangential Arthurian Legend” (Xlibris; 2018).

Arthurian enthusiasts and skeptics and western medievalists will get the chance to check out the historical fantasy novel’s exhibit at the Miami Book Fair 2019 Street Fair on November 22-24, 2019 at Miami Dade College (Wolfson Campus) in Downtown Miami.

Founded in 1984 as “Books by the Bay,” the Miami Book Fair aims to promote reading, encourage writing; heighten an awareness of literacy and the literary arts in Miami’s multi-ethnic community; and serve the community through the promotion of craft and the power of the written word. In 2018, the book fair drew an estimated 200,000 visitors and hosted 500+ authors and 200+ exhibitors.

Hall’s Arthurian novel “The Naked Queen” will be exhibited by ReadersMagnet at the Miami Book Fair.

The author has long been a fan of the historical fiction genre, particularly Arthurian tales and lore. “I have always been an enthusiast of those historical tales involving kings, queens, and knights,” Hall wrote in an article for Paperclips Magazine. “Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s many tales like The White Company, and the varied tales of King Arthur’s Round Table, fascinated me.

“Camelot was a place I could visit often, by four-masted schooner if I chose, where adventures were always there to be had and the chivalric code ruled the land. And the language and idioms of the time and the genre were spectacularly rich.”

For Hall, writing “The Naked Queen” is no small task as he has to create everything, from the setting to the environment and from the characters to the land in which they live. In his Amazon profile, he said, “You need to be accurate, which requires thorough research and be willing to change any aspect of the story that doesn’t line up with the facts.”

The historical fantasy novel “The Naked Queen” dazzles as an “unusual love story” and an empowering tale that revolves around the theme of individuality. The story takes place before Arthur, the legendary king of Britain, becomes a legend. Early in his reign, King Arthur receives a visitor, Darien, who is a crown prince of the Scandinavian realm of Tabithia.

Darien tells the king the story of Syrenya, The Naked Queen:
In the early 1100s, the Scandinavian country of Tabithia is in turmoil. King Ballizar, the ruler, has devised a ritual that seems bent on destroying the realm’s maiden population. No maiden has ever withstood this horrible ritual, which takes place every full moon. As the ritual begins anew, Ballizar is interrupted by a mysterious woman, Syrenya, who tells him that she comes to participate in this ritual – and that she will complete the process.

Syrenya completes the ritual and therefore becomes King Ballizar’s wife and Queen of Tabithia. But on her wedding night, she learns a terrible secret – one that will take all her cunning and intelligence, and the span of a quarter century to put right.

What is this secret? And why does Darien come all this way, just to tell a story? Find out more in Alan R. Hall’s “The Naked Queen: A Tangential Arthurian Legend.”
