Cricket Wireless Donates $50,000 to Play On Philly at The Annual Roots Picnic

In celebration of Black Music Month, Cricket Wireless was an official sponsor of the 12th Annual Roots Picnic, held in Philadelphia, PA on June 1^st at The Mann in Fairmount Park.  Cricket was the official sponsor of the Root’s Picnic Podcast Stage and was also spotlighted on the Questlove Supreme Podcast, streamed live at the festival.

            Continuing its commitment to the community, music and moments that make people smile, Cricket presented the nonprofit organization, Play on Philly, with a $50K donation to provide scholarships to 25 students to participate in the organization’s summer music education program.             “Our contribution to Play on Philly will positively impact the lives of 25 students from the Philadelphia community for years to come,” said Antwone Williams, director of sales, Cricket Wireless. “Our goal is to give them the vision that, with hard work, dedication, and people that believe in them, they too can one day play on a stage as big as those featured at The Roots Picnic.”        

            As part of its sponsorship, Cricket also had a 40x40 pop-up activation that pays tribute to music’s most iconic moments with larger than life murals, creating both a cultural mosaic of meaning and “Instagrammable moments” for fans to form a deeper connection with artists and their contributions to culture. The on-site activation also features games, a lounge area, and a live muralist, who will create works highlighting Black Music Month and African American culture, curating a more interactive experience for attendees.
