The 6th edition of the Paris-Modena tour started yesterday, Sunday 2 June. It is a charity event in which customers, friends of Maserati, sportsmen and lovers of two and four wheels, cross the most challenging mountain passes, pushing their limits, alternating physical effort with the pure gran turismo driving experience that only a Maserati can offer.

Sportiness and performance are intrinsic elements of Maserati’s DNA: in this event they are put to the service of Rêves (www.reves.fr), a charity which supports seriously ill children to make their dreams come true.

This year the participants went from Paris to Aix-en-Provence, from where they left yesterday to tackle a 5-stage route, during which they will alternate between cycling and driving Maserati cars. They will be crossing Provence, with the challenging climb of the iconic Mont Ventoux, the French Riviera and the breathtaking landscape of the Gorges du Verdon. They will then reach Tuscany, retracing the “Eroica” bike race on some of the most beautiful white roads in the Chianti area and finally they will reach Emilia Romagna where they will cross the finish line in Modena on 6 June, at the historic Maserati headquarters.

The sixth edition of the Paris-Modena saw the departure of 30 cyclists including Paul Belmondo, former French racing driver and actor, Davide Cassani, Italian national cycling team coach, cyclists Alessandro Ballan, Marco Velo, and Niccoḷ Bonifazio. Also present were Jose Miguel Antúnez, former captain of the Spanish national basketball team and Michelin-starred chef Andrea Sarri.

The group of 25 participants in the charity tour is escorted along the entire route by a fleet of Maserati Levante, Ghibli and Quattroporte and other FCA group vehicles following the challenging itinerary. Last night the city of Gargas, in Provence, marked the end of the first stage, following the ascent of Mont Ventoux.

During the second stage, which started this morning, the group will cross the breath-taking landscape of the Gorges du Verdon. Tomorrow the third stage will take them from Nice to Grosseto by plane: upon arrival they will be welcomed by the Eurofighters of the 4th Wing. Cyclists will then cross southern Tuscany, visiting the San Galgano Abbey before reaching La Bagnaia estate, a magnificent location where Bulgari - Maserati’s historic partner - will hold an exclusive presentation of the watches created in collaboration with the Trident brand.

On Wednesday 5 June the tour will continue through the Sienese countryside and stop in Piazza del Campo in Siena. Subsequently the group will cycle over the most beautiful white roads in the Chianti area, retracing the route of the “Eroica” bike race, arriving at Fonte de ’Medici, a small village owned by Marchesi Antinori. Allegra Antinori - vice president of Antinori, and for whom the Centro Stile Maserati has created the entirely customized SUV Levante ONE OF ONE - will join the group.

The last stage includes cycling from Sasso Marconi in the Apennines and the arrival at the Panini Museum, one of the most important collections of historic Maserati in the world. Here a group of 15 Maserati employees will join the cycling tour for the last 10 km, which will lead them to the finish line, in Viale Ciro Menotti, at the historic headquarters of Maserati in Modena.

Participants are due  to arrive at the Maserati HQ in in the afternoon of Thursday 6 June.

The Cycling kit has been designed by the Maserati Centro Stile and bicycles for tour participants are provided by Merida Italy. Three Maserati e-Bikes, in MC Alloy version, will also be present: fully made in Italy these e-race bikes, featuring a white and blue livery, will be at Paris-Modena, making their official road debut. They will be available to order from the Official Maserati Dealer Network.
