Poetry book and life of Jesus Christ by author Carol Handy will be on exhibit at the 2019 Miami Book Fair
The book is just one of the Brunswick, GA-based author’s three titles that will be displayed at the largest and most important literary festival in the U.S.
A collection of poetic narratives on the life of Jesus awaits readers at the 2019 Miami Book Fair.
Carol Handy published “Prayers from the Land of the Living” (Christian Faith Publishing; 2018), a collection of narrative poems inspired by the seminal moments in the life of Jesus Christ. Readers of religious/inspirational poetry will get the chance to check out the book’s first public exhibit at the Miami Book Fair 2019 Street Fair on November 22-24, 2019 at Miami Dade College (Wolfson Campus) in Downtown Miami.
Founded in 1984 as “Books by the Bay,” the Miami Book Fair aims to promote reading, encourage writing, and heighten an awareness of literacy and the literary arts in Miami’s multi-ethnic community. In 2018, the book fair drew an estimated 200,000 visitors and hosted 500+ authors and 200+ exhibitors.
The poetry book “Prayers from the Land of the Living,” plus the author’s other two books – a children’s book, The Dragons of Rizvania, and a novel, Journey of Sorrow, Journey of Hope – will be displayed by ReadersMagnet at the Miami Book Fair.
The narrative poems are inspired by the five seminal moments in the life of Jesus as observed by individuals who saw Him for who He was, and those who saw only a human event. “The prayers imagined here present a picture of the human condition without faith,” said Handy about her poems, “and resolves with the recognition of the resurrection.
“While the work has been popular read aloud for such events as Lenten program series, they also are a moving incentive to private mediation.”

About the Author
Carol Handy attended Grinnell College in Iowa and studied at Michigan State University, as well as Andrews University. She is a published poet and served as the writer/editor of the Bahá’í International News Service in Haifa, Israel from 1989 to 1990. She previously published a Baha’i-themed fairytale titled The Dragons of Rizvania. Her proudest accomplishments are her five children, twelve grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
