Marilyn Taplin tackles original sin and modern society’s ills in “A Law from Eden”

What sin led to the exile of humankind from the Garden of Eden? What sin was – and is – the root of sickness, war, crime, famine, injustice, pain, and all other social ills? Marilyn Taplin gives this sin – the original sin, the first sin – a name, “oral sex”, in the book “A Law from Eden: Solving the Mystery of Original Sin” (Archway Publishing; 2017).
 
The author argues that the original sin in the Garden of Eden, the first sin is not pride or the seeking of knowledge about good and evil but a particular act of sexual perversion. “Adam and Eve both committed an act of oral sex, one to please the other,” said the author. “Eve first, and then Adam. This is sin for every person who commits it, without exception.”
 
She also asserts that this particular sin or act of sexual perversion is the root of all social ills. The author said, “All the wrongs of the past, all the social ills and sorrows we are experiencing on this earth today and will continue to experience, are a result of the first sin – oral sex.”
 
Having named the original sin, the author recommends change and a course of action to effect change. “Once the root source of our many problems is discovered, we have the answer to how we can bring an end to this hell and make a heaven on earth. We must remove the root of all evils.”
 
The author exhorts contemporary Christians to remain chaste and avoid perverse sexual acts and to bring heaven back to Earth. She also emphasizes Christianity’s role in putting an end to sin. “It is the responsibility of Christianity and not the government to bring an end to sin. A holy Christianity will bring an end to sin.

Marilyn Taplin was a newlywed in the late 1950s when openness in the matters of sexual issues was not a part of the social order. A subject not openly discussed as it is today. As a young adult, she was determined to think only on positive, good, clean, and wholesome subjects. Consequently, she eliminated offensive movies, books and magazines from her life. During the sexual revolution in the 1960s, she was shocked to see the moral landscape of that day.
