Fonterra and Nestlé to review strategic options for their DPA Brazil joint venture

Vevey, Switzerland – WEBWIRE

Fonterra and Nestlé announced that they agreed to review strategic options for the future ownership of their Dairy Partners Americas (DPA) Brazil joint venture, including a potential sale of their respective stakes.

Fonterra holds a 51% stake and Nestlé 49%. In 2018, DPA reported sales of BRL 1 billion (~ NZD 400 million / CHF 270 million). It operates two plants and employs 1,400 people. Nestlé, Chamyto, Ninho, Chandelle, Chambinho, Neston and Molico are among the well-known brands marketed by DPA in Brazil.

Fonterra and Nestlé created DPA in 2003 as a joint venture to manufacture and commercialize dairy products throughout Latin America. In 2014, the joint venture refocused its activities on Brazil and the commercialization of chilled dairy.

With this review, Fonterra and Nestlé intend to ensure the long-term growth and success of the business. The review is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
