David Random’s first fiction novel on exhibit at the Miami Book Fair 2019

David Random published his first work of fiction, a crime novel titled “Connected: A Case of Unique Proximity” (Litfire; 2017). This book will be displayed alongside thousands of other books at the Miami Book Fair 2019 Street Fair on November 22-24, 2019 at Miami Dade College (Wolfson Campus) in Downtown Miami.
 
The Miami Book Fair was found in 1984 and is originally known as “Books by the Bay.” Being the largest and finest literary festival in the country, the book event aims to promote reading, encourage writing, and heighten an awareness of literacy and the literary arts in the city’s multi-ethnic community. In 2018, the Miami Book Fair attracted an estimated number of 200,000 visitors, plus 500+ authors and 200+ exhibitors.
 
Random’s fiction novel “Connected” will be exhibited by ReadersMagnet at the Miami Book Fair 2019 Street Fair.
 
Described by Kirkus Reviews as “a winning twin spin that combines an ethical conundrum with a police procedural” and by Foreword Reviews as “a wholly absorbing and spellbinding mystery from the start,” “Connected” proves to be a book that literally cannot be put down.
 
The novel revolves around the murder of a Harvard professor. A witness, who is the murderer’s brother, comes forward to tell the truth, that he tried to stop the killing but was unsuccessful in doing so; and the killer later confesses to the crime. That should have been case closed.
 
However, it turns out that the killer and his eyewitness brother are conjoined twins. This presents a legal dilemma for the prosecutors as locking up the killer would also mean locking up the innocent brother. How can the murderer be punished without any harm to the innocent, conjoined twin? And what is this unexpected discovery that authorities make?

David Random graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art and began his subsequent career as an Art Director and Creative Director at Boston- and New York-based advertising agencies in the late 1960s. There he created numerous award-winning national TV commercials and magazine ads for products ranging from cat food and sneakers to bottled water and hot dogs. Since his retirement in 2003, he spends time at his New Hampshire studio where he creates steampunk rocketships from repurposed and vintage artifacts. His rocketships have been featured in numerous galleries and museums as well as on TV (NH Chronicle) and in movies (www.RocketshipMovie.com).
