WEBWIRE

Orange is once again proud to be a partner of Viva Technology Paris. The event runs from 16 to 18 May in Paris, in Hall 1 of the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles convention centre. This fourth international rendez-vous dedicated to innovation and the growth of start-ups will draw everyone involved in digital transformation worldwide, including thousands of start-ups and dozens of international groups. More than 160 thematically grouped start-ups will be on-site in the Orange Hall of Tech during the three-day event.

Tech for Good

Upstream from Vivatech, Orange participated yesterday, along with many other digital companies, in the second edition of Tech For Good, organised at the initiative of the French Presidency of the Republic. Stéphane Richard chaired the Future of Work working group with Dara Koshrowshahi, Uber’s CEO. He subscribed to three commitments consistent with our Human Inside philosophy:

  • That of respecting a minimum rate of female positions in managerial and executive positions of 30 percent by 2022.
  • That of enhancing the skills of its employees and job seekers by recognising, using and promoting a common soft skills repository for all members of Future of Work.
  • That of participating with its partners IBM and BNP Paribas in mentoring and coaching of professional and technological second-year students up to Bac + 2, as part of the P-Tech programme. 2 classes are already planned, at Douai and La Garenne-Colombe.

The Orange Lab

The Orange stand will feature more than 160 start-ups from 22 countries, selected from across its start-up ecosystem support initiatives (Orange Fab, Orange Digital Ventures, Employee Entrepreneurs, Intrapreneurship, etc.) and the VivaTech challenges, which will present their mass market and business innovations on the following themes:

  • Simplifying the Internet of Things: technically complex solutions should be easy to use.
  • Creating useful Artificial Intelligence: ensuring that AI meets our essential daily needs.
  • Protecting digital life: developing a cybersecure framework for our projects and building a safer digital society.
  • Rolling out high-performance networks: better-distributed, high-performing, smart networks are key to making digital accessible to everyone.

There will be three Orange Lab demos:

Holoparty brings the immersive augmented reality services of the future to life. Visitors to Viva Technology’s Orange Hall of Tech will have the chance to try Magic Leap One glasses and interact with an Orange customer advisor located on another site through their holograms. They can also discover and use Orange products and services in real-time, right in the Hall of Tech. This service takes full advantage of 5G to add a new dimension to customer relations.

Djingo Car projects users into a unified car and smart home experience. Drivers can push a discreet button installed behind the steering wheel to launch Djingo, the Orange voice assistant. They can then use voice commands to control their home, which is connected and protected by Orange; they can also manage calls, messages, navigation, music and the radio without taking their eyes off the road.

The Hacking room. Every day, we generate billions of pieces of data worldwide. This data, which is a tremendous resource for innovation, can also be used for malicious purposes. Visitors to the Orange Hall of Tech can learn more about the risks that surround us with an escape room style game that takes them on an undercover assignment. This 15-minute experience will give visitors an understanding of everyday cybersecurity risks.

ODV at Viva Technology

On 16 and 17 May, the team from Orange Digital Ventures, the Orange group’s corporate investment fund, will be available all day to meet with entrepreneurs, alongside the start-ups in which it has invested.

The Orange Fabs network at Viva Technology

Throughout the event, the networks teams from the Orange Fabs, our start-up accelerators located in 17 countries, will be on site with more than 60 French and international start-ups from our acceleration programmes. They will be available to meet with start-ups interested in co-innovating with Orange, and with private and state-owned businesses looking for a dialogue with the start-ups within the Orange ecosystem.

Panorama: the web series that supports local start-ups

Panorama is back after a strong first season that drew 1.3 million viewers. The new season will cover five regions, with a focus on the important and ambitious theme of TechforGood. From La Réunion to the Paris region by way of the south-east of France and the Caribbean, viewers will discover start-ups that aim to prevent food waste, make their region energy independent, or protect local coral reefs. This season, Maddyness magazine readers will be heading out to explore their regions’ start-ups. Join us at the Orange stand at 2:45 pm on 16 May to watch the 1st episode and take in the brand-new talk: “Start-ups: regional economies, employment and emergence”.

General public event

On Saturday 26 May from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, in partnership with Sparknews, Orange will host a Sparkshow at its stand. The event will highlight 6 projects focused on individual engagement and activism from La Ruche and Bond’Innov, two incubators supported by Orange. The start-ups will have the opportunity to win over a panel of journalists and tech and innovation ecosystem influencers who can choose to showcase the projects that interest them.
